Also, acupuncture is part of the traditional medicine of China that includes herbal medicine, exercise, massage and diet. Specifically, acupuncture is a method of using fine needles to stimulate invisible lines of energy or Qi (pronounced "chee") running beneath the surface of the skin. This affects a change in the energy balance of the body and works to restore health.
In Chinese medicine, this is referred to as "differentiation". Doctor's formulas are used as teas or in capsule form, and they are often prescribed to provide a stabilizing link between acupuncture visits. Moxibustion, the stimulation of energy by the use of burning herbs, is also used. Like acupuncture, they effect changes in the energy balance of the body to restore health. Both acupuncture and traditional herbal formulas are powerful forms of Chinese medicine.

A dozen tiny needles prick into her eyelids, near her tear ducts and along the ridge of her eye socket. A handful of others trail from her ears to the tops of her feet. Mary Lou Gollan lies calmly on a cushioned table in a dimly lit room, her eyes closed, needles wiggling from her thumbs as she explains how acupuncture has helped her vision where traditional medicine failed. “When I walked outside, it was amazing to me how much brighter things were,” Gollan said of her first acupuncture treatment. “I’m looking across the street at the trees and I’m thinking, ‘Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen leaves on the trees.’” Four years ago Gollan was diagnosed with age-related dry macular degeneration, an eye disease that has no cure.Read more...
To Nawei’s Acupuncture Clinic:
I was suffering from severe neuropathy in both my legs and my feet. Several therapies had helped me reach a level where I could tolerate the pain, but I decided to try acupuncture. Dr. Nawei's clinic was well recommended so I tried it. Acupuncture was the absolute breakthrough therapy I needed. Dr. Nawei's expert treatment has allowed me to reduce my pain medication by 25% and to increase the intensity of my exercise routines. For months, I could not wear jeans or anything but loose nylon pants. But, after a few weeks of Nawei's therapy, the burning was reduced so dramatically that I'm back to wearing my jeans all the time. Dr. Nawei is very hands-on and has worked with me for extensive periods of time to find the right combination of treatments. She has also prepared several teas that have helped with some of the side effects of my pain medication. Combining acupuncture with my other therapies has allowed me to return to work and I have even been able to do some limited skiing. Dr. Nawei is a great asset to the Colorado Springs community.
